Answers to common questions when considering building a timber deck or extension.
The little things everyone needs to know and forgets to ask.
Q: I know what I would like to do, but don’t have any plans. Do I have to get plans drawn up before I contact you?
A: No. Mike or Chris will visit you in your home and discuss your requirements. Both are very experienced registered builders. They can discuss your project and advise you of what options you have and what would be the best way to go about it. We are happy to arrange for your plans to be drawn if required.
A: If your deck has a roof or you are adding an extension, council approval is required, along with a full set of plans and certification. You don’t need to worry. We take care of it for you. There are some other cases too where Council approval is required. We will advise if this is a requirement.
A: It depends on the individual council, their workload at the time, the complexity of the project and if there are any out of the ordinary requirements such as relaxation orders. It is good to allow 4-6 weeks.
Q: Do we have to move out while the extension or renovation is being done?
A: While exciting, extending your home is a disruption to your daily routine. We understand this, and do our best to minimize the inconvenience and as much as possible, respect your privacy and limit the intrusion. On larger projects where water, electricity or other services are interrupted, it may be necessary to vacate your home for a short period of time.
A: No. This is why Complete Home Extensions is a great choice to build your extension. We are specialists at dovetailing the new with the old, the stylish with the traditional, and incorporating modern conveniences in ways that work with your existing environment and the practicalities of modern day living. We are very particular in matching windows, doors, external cladding, roofing and other materials to ensure a seamless look and feel, adding value to you home.
Q: How long will it take to build our extension?
Q: What can I do if I have questions during construction?
A: With Add A Dek, you are not just a number on a contract. Every job, big or small is overseen personally by either Chris or Mike. You always have a person to call who knows what is happening, can answer your questions and has the authority to solve problems and make things happen.
